Heavy Metal – FAKK 2

Description

Heavy Metal F.A.K.K. 2 is a third-person Action/Adventure, based on the Heavy Metal franchise (the comic books, movie, cartoon, etc.).

The story takes place some years after the most recent movie, and basically involves big bad aliens threatening the planet of Eden, the home of Julie (aka F.A.K.K. 2) and other people rescued in the aforementioned movie. So Julie, being the heroine she is, sets out to stop the invasion and send the baddies packing.

To accomplish this you get to use weapons ranging from many types of swords (fire, electrical, chainsaw, etc) to a rocket launcher to guns like a pistol, Uzi, and shotgun. There are even a few shields and some armor. The game has both left and right handed attacks, so you can hold a firesword in one hand, for example, and an Uzi in the other. This also allows for special combo moves which are used to kill powerful monsters quicker. …

KISS – Psycho Circus – The Nightmare Child

Description

Wicked Jester, a band of four, are headed for a Friday night gig at The Coventry, a rundown dive outside of town. They arrive only to find the parking lot deserted, the club seemingly dead. The band’s members: Pablo Ramirez, Andy Chang, Gabriel Gordo and Patrick Scott, stepping from their van, are startled by a voice from the shadows. She offers them four tickets to a circus — tonight’s the grand finale! Having nothing better to do, the four accept and the nightmare begins.

Based on characters from comic book author Todd McFarlane, KISS Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child brings the horror and carnage of the Psycho Circus to the PC in a shooter format. There are two-dozen creatures to battle with and three classes of weapons to use, each with four specific types: melee (beast claws, thornblade, twister and punisher), common (zero cannon, magma cannon, windblade and scourge) and ultimate (stargaze, galaxion, spirit lance and draco). In addition to the weaponry, temporary power-ups and instant items such as health, attack and defense powers are available. …

KISS Pinball

Description

“You wanted the best, you got the best!” states the box cover of KISS Pinball, quoting a KISS trademark. But calling something the best doesn’t make it so — a budget game without accurate physics, KISS Pinball is at most an average game, one only a diehard KISS fan might really appreciate. Even a fan, though, is certain to be disappointed to learn that KISS music is absent from the game — there’s just a generic looping hard-rock style soundtrack.

Players familiar with modern computer pinball games won’t find anything new here. Most of the normal features are evident, but there are no surprises and only the bare minimum in design has been accomplished. The physics are a bit shoddy, evidenced by ball movement that isn’t quite as responsive as that in a real pinball machine or video pinball games of higher quality. The ball bounces off objects at a linear speed, rather than slowing down from friction and gravity and, at other times, doesn’t bounce at all when it should, making it too easy to catch with a flipper. As a result, the game feels stiff and non-responsive. …
