Pac-Man – Adventures in Time

Description

Ghosts Inky and Clyde steal a golden power pellet known as the Artifact, under the command of a shadowy creature known as Mollusc. Mollusc smashes the Artifact; the result of the explosion scatters the Artifact’s four fragmented pieces across time and space. Professor Pac-Man wakes up Pac-Man from his sleep and alerts him about the crisis. Professor Pac-Man prepares a hastily constructed time machine for Pac-Man that allows him to travel through time and recover the Artifact pieces.

Pac-Man travels through various time periods, including prehistoric times, Ancient Egypt, the Middle Ages, and the Wild West. Pac-Man eventually obtains all the artifact pieces; the time machine malfunctions and sends him to the future; with Professor Pac-Man stating that an alternate power source is needed to correctly power the time machine and bring Pac-Man back to the present. Pac-Man reaches the Reactor Core of a station and is able to harness its energy to be finally transported back to his own time period, with the Artifact reassembled.

Pac-Man returns to the present, arriving directly at the second after Mollusc breaks the original Artifact. Pac-Man uses the repaired Artifact to fire a beam that disintegrates Mollusc. …

Pink Panther – Pinkadelic Pursuit

Description

One Christmas day, Pink Panther is heading toward the mansion of his late uncle. It is said that there is a treasure hidden somewhere in the mansion. As the inheritor of the mansion, Pink set out to find the treasure as soon as he steps into the mansion. He soon finds out that the treasure is locked inside a safe; the keys of which can be obtained by exploring the “rooms” (probably the places/enemies that Uncle Pink previously explored/defeated) in the mansion. Now it up to Pink Panther to retrieve all the keys to the treasure!

The main objective of all the levels in the game (except the final level) is to collect the key hidden in each level and get to the goal to proceed to the next level. There are a total of 12 “rooms” (levels) within 3 game modes: platform, race and boss fight. Most levels are in platform mode. In platform mode, the key is guarded by a certain character in a certain place. The way to that place is not straightforward: there are plenty more characters blocking the ways each time players proceed. The only way to proceed is to do the suitable exchanges with these characters (what they need will be displayed in the thought bubbles when players come near them). Very often the object a character needs is also the one another has, so stealing and chasing are essential parts of this mode. Hiding spots are provided for players for convenience during chase sequences. …

Descent

Description

The Post-Terran Minerals Corporation (PTMC) digs up minerals on all nine planets of the solar system, employing humans and robots to do its job. Unfortunately, the mining robots are now being controlled by a hacker, and have taken the human workers hostage. The PTMC has tried to get the robots back under their control, but communication with the mining stations has been lost. In desperation, the PTMC modifies a Pyro-GX ship for combat and hires a mercenary, codenamed “Material Defender”, to fly it. The mission is to destroy the infected mines and rescue human hostages, destroying any hostile robot that gets in the way.

Descent is a 3D first-person game that puts the player at the controls of the Pyro-GX spaceship. Descent is notable in that the player travels through various interior locations (mines) but can do so in 720 degrees of movement. The ship however only moves forward and backward in any of the directions it is facing. The ship is able to use a variety of weapons scattered as power-ups throughout each level. They include: standard lasers, the Vulcan Cannon (a chaingun-like weapon), the Spreadfire Cannon (a rapidly firing, shotgun-like energy weapon), the Plasma Cannon (a rapidly firing energy weapon more suited for medium-range combat), and the Fusion Cannon (fires a ball of energy that’s more powerful the longer it is charged it up, but could destroy the ship). All of these weapons, except for the Vulcan Cannon, use the ship’s energy supply. The Pyro-PX is also capable of firing regular concussion missiles, homing missiles, proximity bombs (sits in the sky, then explodes when something gets close to it), smart missiles (more powerful homing missiles that fire out homing energy balls upon impact with their target), and Mega Missiles (the ultimate weapons of mass destruction). …

Descent II

Description

After the “Material Defender” has destroyed all of the mines in the solar system in the original Descent, he stops in the Asteroid belt for refueling. PTMC executive S. Dravis then contacts him and blackmails him to accept a new mission: “If you’ve studied your standard mercenary agreement, you would notice that PTMC reserves the right to keep you on retainer for up to 72 hours, post-mission. If you choose to decline further service, we may consider you in default of your contract, and your fee may be suspended, pending litigation. Good luck Material Defender. Dravis out.”

The Material Defender’s ship is fitted with a prototype warp core. He is then sent to clear out PTMC’s deep space mines in planets beyond the Solar System. The planets are Zeta Aquilae, Quartzon, Brimspark, Limefrost Spiral, Baloris Prime, and Omega. The Omega system is subdivided into the Puuma Sphere and Tycho Brahe, with the latter being the final level of the game. The last mine on Tycho Brahe seems to run all through a planetoid, which is revealed in the final cutscene to be a large spaceship. After the planetoid/spaceship breaks apart, the Material Defender radios in to alert Dravis to his return home, but his warp drive malfunctions and he ends up in an unknown location. The camera then fades to that location and the ship appears, drifting towards the camera, heavily damaged and crackling with excess radiation. …

Tron – Evolution

Description

TRON: Evolution is an action game that acts a bridge between the original 1982 TRON movie and the 2010 sequel, TRON: Legacy. It is also the sequel to the graphic novel TRON: Betrayal and the Nintendo DS game. It was released nearly concurrently with the latter film. Some music created by the music group Daft Punk for the movie is included in Evolution’s soundtrack.

The setting for Evolution is TRON: Legacy’s “Grid” system during the year 1989, just as the events presented in that film begin to take place. Kevin Flynn, a major protagonist in both movies, has recently discovered ISOs on The Grid; ISOs are Programs that have apparently created themselves, and possess unique characteristics above and beyond that noteworthy trait. While Flynn sees them as a miracle, some normal Programs on The Grid resent them, and infighting between the two groups of applications has begun to flare up. In an effort to prevent a digital race war, he organizes a ceremony where the leader of the ISOs, Radia, is named co-system administrator alongside Clu, an upgraded version of a Program that Flynn wrote to use against the MCP in the first Tron film. As a security Program named Anon, you are created to guard the ceremony and help Tron – the same Program from the first film – maintain The Grid.

The game itself is played through a classic third-person perspective, similar to the Tomb Raider series. However, Anon – the player’s character – is much more athletic than a typical character for this genre, and the player is able to travel across The Grid using Anon’s “free runner” aerobatic techniques. The player attacks hostile Programs primarily with their Light Disk, through either melee or ranged attacks. They can also use the disk to block the attacks of other Programs. Derezzing (in-universe slang for killing/deleting) a Program grants experience points, which can be used to upgrade the player’s abilities. The game also includes sequences where the player can control Light Cycles (like TRON 2.0) and Tanks (upgraded versions of the ones from the first movie). Players using the PlayStation 3 version of the game can control the Light Cycle with the PlayStation Move controller, as if it were the handlebars of the bike. …
