Bad Day L.A.

Description

You play as Anthony Williams, a homeless person in Los Angeles who doesn’t give a shit. One day, as he is again blocking the highway with his shopping cart, a plane full of biowaste crashes into the bridge nearby and one Bad Day in L.A. begins. Soon people begin to mutate into zombies because of the dangerous waste, meteorites come down from the sky, a tsunami makes its way to L.A. and many other bad things happen. The game is a humorous take on the USA’s post-9/11 culture of fear.

Your only goal is to survive. You can do that by either shooting your way through everything and anyone, or helping the people around you. You need to protect them from terrorists, street gangs or zombies with the help of eight weapons from a tire iron to a rocket launcher. But you can also heal the zombies with your fire extinguisher or use it to help burning people. For every action you do, you either get a smiley or a frowney, and depending on how many of these you have collected, the NPCs will have different behaviours. If you behave like a psycho and collect frowneys, everyone will hunt you down and will not help you find your way through the mess. …

Requiem – Avenging Angel

Description

The Fallen were a group of angels who mistakenly believed that God was upset with Earth’s corruption and wanted it destroyed. Even after they were banished from Heaven, the Fallen continued to adhere to their belief. They have been bidding their time in the realm of Chaos, waiting for their moment to strike out at human kind.

Finally, that time has come, and the Fallen have taken control of the minds of Earth’s leaders and police force, using them to set up a one world government, oppressing the populace into submission. On top of that, the Fallen are experimenting with Earth’s first interstellar starship, the Leviathan, which was originally created to explore past the Solar system. The new leaders of Earth seem to have other plans for the vessel, which they are re-designing towards some unknown purpose. Eventually, an angel named Malachi is sent to Earth to stop the sinister schemes of the Fallen and their human followers, and save mankind.

Requiem: Avenging Angel is a first-person shooter in which the player controls Malachi, exploring predominantly urban environments and fighting human, robotic, and demonic enemies. Some areas in the city New Damascus, where most of the action takes place, form a seamless location rather than being broken into levels. Most of the stages are populated by enemies, though a few locations contain friendly characters, such as members of a rebel organization who send Malachi on missions. …

Grand Theft Auto (GTA)

Description

In Grand Theft Auto, the player takes the role of a small-time criminal trying to make it big with the mob. Stealing cars, doing jobs for the gangsters and behaving generally anti-social are the way to success.

The action moves through six levels spread over three different cities, each based on a real US city: Liberty City (based on New York City), San Andreas (based on San Francisco) and Vice City (based on Miami). To finish a level, a certain score must be reached. Stealing cars and crashing into traffic, driving over pedestrians and killing cops all raise the score, but the big points are made through jobs. Answering phones or entering special cars brings mission assignments, from simple “ditch-a-hot-car” jobs to supporting bank robberies or carrying out assassinations. Completing a mission will raise the score substantially and also increase the score multiplier, so that completing the next felony will gain even more points.

Criminal behavior comes with a price of course: if policemen witness a crime, the player’s wanted level rises. At the lowest level, a single police car might give chase, whereas at the highest level whole car squads hunt the player, the police set up roadblocks and shoot to kill. The only way to evade the cops is to find a respray shop and get a new paint job with new license plates. This costs money which is deducted from the score, however. But even dying or being arrested are not the end. The player has several lives, and ending up in jail simply results in being stripped of all weapons and armor and the score multiplier being lowered. …

Grand Theft Auto – London 1969

Description

Grand Theft Auto: Mission Pack #1 – London 1969 is an official expansion pack to Grand Theft Auto. Instead of the fictional interpretations of New York, Miami and Los Angeles of the original, this game opens up the city of London to the player. The game features thirty new vehicles, new graphics and thirty-two new missions; all in a distinctly British theme. The new city contains many familiar landmarks from London in the late 60s as well as other cultural reference and Cockney slang. This time the player can choose the avatar’s appearance, otherwise gameplay has not been changed from the original game. The player still is involved in organized crime and must perform a variety of criminal activities. …

Grand Theft Auto 2 (GTA 2)

Description

Lie, cheat, and steal your way through three districts of a huge city in the follow-up to Grand Theft Auto. Earn the respect of 7 different gangs as you demolish the town in your attempt to make lots of cash.

The game takes place at an undisclosed time in the near future. Unlike the first game which featured three different cities, Grand Theft Auto 2 only features a single town, but it’s divided in three districts which are unlocked one at a time: downtown, residential and industrial. Like in the original the player goes around answering phones to initiate various missions. The game uses an overhead camera in a 3D landscape and allows the player to freely explore the city and steal any vehicle the player sets his or her eyes on. To unlock new districts the player must reach a certain score which is done by committing crimes and finishing missions.

Because the game now features multiple criminal gangs, the player must choose allegiances. Performing missions for one gang, will decrease the player’s reputation for another. When the player commits crimes he also becomes wanted by the local police, but as more crimes are committed without shaking the police, they will give way for first SWAT Teams, then Special Agents and finally the army. …
