Zoo Tycoon

Description

Zoo Tycoon is, as the title implies, a simulation game that allows the player to build and manage a zoo. The new manager starts from nothing, being given just a grass field and an entrance sign for the future zoo. He will then have to purchase animals, place them in exhibits, care for their health, and not forget about the other kind of animals – the visitors. To keep them happy, the manager should make the zoo comfortable, open restaurants, gift stands, and pet houses for children.

The game features over forty animal species. It also provides background information about the animals – their classes, origins, habits, etc. …

Zoo Tycoon 2

Description

Zoo Tycoon 2 is the sequel to Zoo Tycoon. The sequel updates the graphics, but keeps much of the original gameplay the same.

You start with an open field and must build it up into a zoo. Create exhibits and populate them with animals. Build amenities and concession stands to keep visitors happy in between exhibits. Happy visitors will donate more money to your zoo so you can make it better. However, you have much more freedom in exhibit creation. You don’t even need fences; a moat or ditch will suffice, as this technique is popular at real high profile zoos. There are also more animals and attractions to place in your zoo, and animal habitats look as realistic as the cartoony graphics style will allow. …

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3

Description

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 marks the series’ debut to a 3D engine, and is the first major title in the series created by a company outside Chris Sawyer Productions.

The new engine brings numerous cosmetic additions like day/night cycles; reflective water; improved terraforming tools; and guests who differ in age, gender and appearance (and who can be created by the player in the Peep Designer), while gameplay changes are even more substantial – construction can take place even when the game is paused; park staff now have happiness levels, manageable wages, and can be trained; shops and stalls have more purchasable items which can be changed so, for example, drinks are sold with ice cubes; rides can be viewed from a first-person camera from any seat within the ride; VIP guests can appear, with a secondary objective requiring to please them; fireworks can be created and combined in the MixMaster; new custom billboards can make use of image files on the player’s computer, and custom stalls also added. …

RollerCoaster Tycoon 2

Description

RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is the sequel to RollerCoaster Tycoon. The player once again takes the role of a theme park manager, tasked with building a park using various rides and attractions, such as restrooms, restaurants, bumper cars, ferris wheels, go-karts, and, of course, roller coasters. There are over twenty different buildable rollercoaster types, from simple wooden coasters to complex inverted coasters. Many new rides and attractions are featured in the game, including handy “stalls” like the ATM machine and the first aid room, as well as lots of new scenery and theming items, such as the Pirate theme. Many scenery items now have wall and roof sections for higher levels of park customization.

There are a lot of scenarios to complete, from easy ones that only ask a certain park rating and guest count to extreme ones, such as making a yearly profit of $100,000 with rides that must have a certain rating, without letting the park rating drop to a certain number. The monetization mechanics are different – in the same scenario, the park can only have purchasable ride tickets or park entrance tickets, never both, while items from shops and stalls are purchasable in both cases. Staff wages have been raised as well. …

RollerCoaster Tycoon

Description

Rollercoaster Tycoon is a real-time isometric amusement park simulation, in which the player takes the role of a theme park manager, creating rides and attractions to amuse his guests, as well as shops and stalls in case the guests are hungry.

Ride stats differ, with some being gentle and meant for “waking up” tired guests, and others being rather intense. Each and every guest has his own excitement and nausea tolerance, which will reflect on the rides’ popularity and the park’s tidiness. Hence, handymen are employed. Rides can also break down, and some of them can even crash, leading to a tragic ending. Mechanics can be employed to inspect rides for possible errors and to fix already broken rides. Security guards prevent vandalism in their line of sight, and entertainers keep guests happy while waiting in a long queue line.

Guests are also impressed if there is some wonderful scenery scattered around the park, leading to an increase in the park rating. They all have their opinion on the park, so it is a good idea to check their thoughts every now and then, as the park rating depends on the guests’ satisfaction. …

The Movies

Description

Have you ever wanted to try running your own movies studio?

The Movies gives you that opportunity by putting you in the shoes of an aspiring movie mogul starting in 1920s Hollywood. Hire directors and actors for your films, ensuring they get enough acting/directing practice to ensure they’ll give their best performances. Be careful not to stress them too much though or next thing you’ll know, they’ll be drowning their sorrows with alcohol (or food). Don’t forget to recruit builders, janitors, film crew, scientists, scriptwriters and personal assistants too, they’re also just as important to ensuring the success of your studio.

Once you’ve hired the actors, directors and ancillary staff you require to make movies, you’ll also need to construct places for them to work and relax. A majority of your studio lot will be occupied by sets of one of five genres (Action, Sci-Fi, Horror, Romance and Comedy) which you can research and then build to be used for filming your movies. While your scriptwriters are making the final touches to that 5-star film script, you can get your directors and actors to practice their roles on the set. …
