Description

Legend is the seventh major game in the Tomb Raider series, now for the first time developed by Crystal Dynamics, along with the original character designer of the game’s protagonist Lara Croft: Toby Gard.

Heroine Lara is searching for a South American relic, but her adventure takes a different course when rogue anthropologist Amanda Evert shows up. Presumed dead along with a team of graduate students after an accident in a tomb in Peru, where Lara was the only one to escape, Amanda is back with a score to settle as they both race, along with the shady James Rutland Jr., to obtain an ancient artifact. Many other characters, both friends and foes, will stir things up. The story takes Lara through locations all over the world, from the Himalayas to Ghana, Kazakhstan, Bolivia, Japan, and England, including her famous mansion filled with secrets and collectibles. Description

After his brother, known for taking extreme risks, disappears in the Himalayas, Eric Simmons reluctantly heads off to the village of Lhando, his last known location. He has arranged to meet with his brother’s employer – but the town is completely deserted. What’s more, everything has been abandoned, and bodies lie rotting in the streets. The locals were desperate to get away from someone… or something – but who or what? Only by exploring Lhando and the the mountain, Chomolonzo, will Eric find the answers he seeks, and hopefully, his brother.

Cursed Mountain is a survival horror game in the vein of Silent Hill. As Eric, players explore haunted locations for clues that will lead them to Frank’s disappearance. Early on, Eric is taught by a monk to use his “third eye”, which can see the unseen, such as sacred seals. This is performed by pointing the Wii Remote at the screen. As to be expected, ghosts appear to attack Eric and prevent him in his quest. The player can fend them off by performing gestures with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. Eric can attack the ghosts with his pick axe, and then finish them off by using his third eye to spot their weak point, and attack it. As Eric explores, he will discover more upgrades for his axe that will allow him to break more seals and progress further. …

Description

The seventh installment of the Final Fantasy series takes place in a post-modern, steampunk, sci-fi world where high technology reigns and where robots and bio-engineered mutants co-exist with humans and dragons.

The story focuses on Shinra Inc., an evil mega-corporation responsible for all the world’s high technology. Shinra supports this technology with Mako Energy, Shinra’s patented source of power. Unfortunately Mako is the lifeblood of the living planet and by using it up Shinra is slowly upsetting the balance of nature.

In comes AVALANCHE, a rebel group of disenfranchised citizens who have taken it upon themselves to oppose Shinra’s ambitions. The main character is an ex-Shinra soldier named Cloud Strife, an angst-ridden fellow with a complex history that is explained as the game goes on. Cloud joins up with AVALANCHE as a mercenary for hire, and together they take on Shinra’s maniacal executives and their army of shock-troops, robots, and mutants. Final Fantasy VIII (2000)

Description

Squall Leonhart is a young man in training to become of member of SeeD – a mercenary organization and the goal of all young students in Balamb Garden. Squall is not a particularly friendly guy and has troubles with his fellow students and teachers. On the eve of his graduation hostilities break out between the city-states of Galbadia and Dollet. As their final test, Squall and three other students are sent on a mission to assist in the fight against Galbadia. In the process they discover that there are other characters pulling strings from behind the stage, and eventually uncover a mystery that involves two decades of secrets hidden both from the world and from themselves.

Final Fantasy VIII is set in a “retro” environment reminiscent in some ways of the 1960’s, with a few sci-fi and plenty of supernatural elements mixed in. The basic system resembles those of its predecessors: the player navigates a party of characters over a world map, accessing various locations and fighting randomly appearing enemies in turn-based combat of the series’ trademark ATB (active time battle) variety.
